"Birds at Midnight" by GIGI
Well, we are at Challenge #11 of the Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiousities Volume III Challenges. The projects appearing at each challenge are inspiring and show many possibilities using the techniques in Tim's book. re amazing! Check out Marjie Kemper's Design (she's the seventh one down on this page) on Linda Ledbetter's CC3C blog! That woman knows colour! I'm envious! Not to mention the other beautiful ladies on the Curiousity Crew.
So, all the rules are set down here.It is never too late to join, so grab your stash and prepare to C-R-E-A-T-E!!!
With this project I utilized Distress embossing powder in "Black soot" and also used Distress ink "Chipped Sapphire". the texture on the background is almost three dimensional. The picture doesn't do it justice but I tried my best! You can see some variegated colour in the background, that was produced by the products! I also had fun with Tim Holtz's Distress glitter....I don't use much glitter but this stuff reminds me of Christmas ornaments in the 60's. The glitter looks 'aged' and 'warm'. The branch is suspended above the background on adhesive dots with the leaves being raised twice the height of the birds so it adds more dimension. It turned out quite neat! While I was making it I was reflecting on meeting Marjie Kemper at the Prima ArtVenture 2014. Gosh she was like a spring breeze when she popped up at my table. Due to air traffic she arrived late AND they lost her luggage! Poor girl! But, she didn't let it get her down and we made some fond memories together. If you haven't checked out her website it is www.marjiekemper.com you'll be pleased you stop by. Sign up for her newsletter too! See you in a couple weeks my friends!
